The Hub

Health Professions Hub

An Education, Training, and Community Health Center for the Region and Beyond

Filling a Need

  • 1 in 8 Americans is a health professional or employed in the healthcare sector
  • 50,000 people in Western New York are employed in healthcare
  • Buffalo’s renaissance has led to a Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus with increased industry vitalization
  • Inequities exist in the regional health workforce and provision of healthcare services

  • The majority of the city of Buffalo has been designated as a Federal Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA)
  • Disease rates for many chronic diseases are even higher in the west side of Buffalo than in Erie County and New York State
  • Health professions education needs to emphasize team-based approaches to optimize healthy outcomes

Our Goal

Secure $20 million to construct a 46,000 square foot health professions hub to provide workforce and economic development, higher and continued education, inter-professional education, training, and community healthcare services to Western New York’s diverse population.
